New NHL draft format
It apparently rewards teams for choking in the playoffs. Classy.
Mudcrutch notices that the Red Wings somewhat inexplicably support the new format, while Lowetide gives some perspective on the NHL’s chronic ineptitude when it comes to draft rules.
Meanwhile, the Oilers continue to field a weak AHL team with a handful of veterans as window dressing. They haven’t won a game since Le Mullet was shipped off to Long Island. Last night’s loss was typical: a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of the LA Kings. Granted, almost a third of their regulars are injured, but I have a hard time believing that they’ll be able to scrape together even a single win between now and golf season. Statistically improbable, sure, but if they all pull together and suck really hard, they just might do it!
