-41° C

It’s cold out today. -32° Celsius* before factoring in the windchill, which nudges the mercury down to -41°.

Tomorrow it’s projected to be -39° without windchill.

People sometimes tell me they could never live in Edmonton because the weather is so bad, and I’ve been telling them that the last five years or so have seen fairly mild winters. Not particularly enjoyable winters, but livable. If anything, the worst part of winter is the foul sludge they put on the roads to provide grip, but tends to make the entire city look like it’s been sprayed with milk-chocolate pudding.

Today is one of those days that makes you cheer on global warming. Shut your big yap, Al Gore. Won’t someone please think of the children northern Albertans?

* Note for those not familiar with the metric system: -32° Celsius is Goddamn-Cold° in Fahrenheit.

UPDATE: If it gets below -35 tomorrow, I’m going to try the trick where you toss boiling water into the air and watch it crystalize into snow before it hits the ground. I’ll let everyone know how it goes, though it may take a while to get Internet access in the burn ward.

There’s no way to get around this basic fact: winter sucks.

Tickets to Florida were booked on the weekend.
