I can relate, dude. I loved my '83 Acadian. Bought it at 78,000 km, and had it towed away at approximately 240,000 km. It still started and ran, but the body was literally falling off it, and it was very unsafe.

A sad, sad day back in April 1994, made all the worse as Richard Nixon's death had occurred a few days earlier, and I was just damn vulnerable.

The Escort wasn't particularly gay: just wimpy. And shitty. But man, did I love that car.

I can take that one higher: my car was actually a 1983 Pontiac Acadian Scooter. Extra gay. I wanted to get it in purple, but they only had gray. Too bad.

Out here in Flatlandia, they don't put salt on the roads (they actually use brown sugar. Not as nice as it sounds), so there are more than a few specimens of the noble Ford workhorse rattling around town.

Chevettes, however, are a much rarer breed. I thought I saw one the other day, but it was an Acadian fer cryin' out loud. I recall that the Acadian was marketed as the "Gay Chevette", which really takes redundancy to new heights.

Harrumph! Feugh! Do you see any '82 Escorts still on the road? No? Didn't think so. Here in Sewerside, though, there are at least three Chevettes still on the road.

Look, you're just in over your head. Quit while you can, Western Boy.

By 'Best Beater', do you mean the best performing car, or the most fun to drive into the ground?

What about the Yugo?
