Until I moved out west, I never realized how generally crappy Hockey Night in Canada’s coverage of the Western Conference was. If the Cup finals in ’06 hadn’t proven it beyond all doubt, tonight’s gaffe may have surprised me more.

Sharks/Oilers tonight, the first goal was scored by some guy I’ve never heard of named Alex Hemsky. Not only did the guys in the booth call him that, the graphic they showed on screen after the goal was “ALEX HEMSKY”.

Facepalm.

UPDATE: 3-2 Oilers in overtime, despite being outshot 43-17.  Roli! Roli! Roli!
