Carp versus Lions, May 26, 2011

Trip booked, travel agent’s Tokyo office is getting us “great seats” for the game mentioned in the title. I’m beyond excited.

Whose name should I get on my Carp jersey? I’m leaning toward Kenta Maeda, last year’s Sawamura Award winner (the NPB Cy Young).

Well, it were me, I’d go for former Blue Jay Vinnie Chulk. There’s also other former MLB washouts Mike Schultz or Chad Tracy.

But I’m sure you’d prefer a Japanese player, so Kenta Maeda seems like the guy. Looking through the 2010 stats, he looks like the only Carp player who did ANYTHING remotely half-decent – their hitting looks particularly unimpressive.

Did Warren Cromartie ever play for the Carp? That would be my angle. If that doesn’t work, I’d go for Alex Ochoa.
